Definition of Disavow File

A disavow file is text file that is created to be submitted to Google or Bing’s disavow tools. A disavow file will list the URLs and/or domain names that you don’t claim to have a relationship with.

Special Notes:

  • If you haven’t received a manual action penalty from Google, involving one of your linking relationships, then you DO NOT need to disavow any backlinks.
  • Learn how to disavow backlinks on Google’s Search console.
